After yesterday's planned lunchtime run had been postponed to the evening, I was determined that today's luncheon sojourn was to be more successful. With the temperatrue climbing (all the office windows were open by 9), I knew today was going to be a warm affair. Most of my running tends to be individual excursions but for the run today I was to be accompanied by my esteemed running work colleague who is in training for the Chester Marathon.
On the menu for today was a mostly off-road 6 miler to be attempted in the easier clockwise direction (gets the multiple stile crossings (all 15 of them) done in the first 2 miles). After the fields and stiles were negotiated we were out onto the road and down a very narrow lane which gradually winds down and down before a short sharp climb back up to the canal.
On to the canal and a nice mile and a half along the towpath, the nice cooling breeze had now departed and we were into the hottest part of the run. Still very manageable at our nice easy pace, I wish we had had time to run further along the canal :) Once off the canal it was a further mile and a half along the road back up to the office and the 6 miles done. It was good to have company for a change and made the miles slip by!!
