Gonna need some new shoes!

So day 2 dawned and the plan today was for a nice lunchtime jaunt given that the weather forecast called for blue skies and high temperatures. Given the predicted mileage planned for the Juneathon, a survey of my 3 pairs of shoes lined up by the back door showed that they were severely lacking in the material department but good on holes. A visit to the running store was now overdue!

As the morning progressed and several meetings planned, hadn't materialised, the prospect of the lunchtime run looked to be in jeopardy. Finally the meetings were done but the clock had progressed to 2:30, oh well looks like today's run will move to the evening. The busy day in the office continued and looked like I was going to be there until well after 8:00. Not fancying dragging myself out the door once home late, I took the option to go for a quick 4 miles at 6 o'clock and then back to the office to continue working.

My was it warm outside, trapped in the office all day I could see the blue skies but was unaware on how much it had warmed up! Today's route took me on a well used traverse of the country lanes and fields around the office. The run started downhill and felt good all the way down to the lake and the interesting 'sink hole' that filters the water from the lake to the river below.

After the lake is the infamous 'cow field', mysteriously devoid of the said bovine creatures this evening. The final couple of miles weaves along
the pretty country lanes bordering farmer's fields - I counted 4 tractors
cutting grass! The legs were a little tired tonight, the small sandwich at
lunchtime and the absence of any chocolate item during the afternoon no
doubt was a contributing factor. Up the final hill and back into the office,
four miles done in 30 minutes and change. No point in having a shower,
it was back to the desk for another couple of hours! Tomorrow that planned lunchtime run, should be able to squeeze in a 7 miler...

Stats
Distance: 4.02 miles
